Such is life

“Don’t look down on death, but welcome it. It too is one of the things required by nature. Like youth and old age. Like growth and maturity. Like a new set of teeth, a beard, the first grey hair. Like sex and pregnancy and childbirth. Like all the other physical changes at each stage of life,
our dissolution is no different.”

Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
Such is life
said Ned Kelly
last words uttered
so they say
his life cut short
by the length
of the hangman's noose
A premature end to yang
in his cycle of life
the yang phase
dependency
of infancy
innocence
of childhood
exuberance
of youth
confidence
of adulthood
the yin phase
inevitability
of ageing
resistance
to change
deterioration
of function
decaying
of body
no stagnation
nothing permanent
one cycle
through phases
progression
impossible to halt
the truth
of impermanence
such is life
