About

Hi, I’m Mike Stacey and I’m just keeping an eye on things as I approach the sunset of my life. Well certainly closer to the sunset than the sunrise at least 😉  I created this blog to put my “voice” on the internet. So here’s a little about who I am, and what I love…

Fledgling scribbler. AFL fan. Blues fan. Radio Fan. Theatre Fan. IT dabbler.  Animal lover. Healer. Husband, father, grandfather. Respectful agnostic.

Thank you to Fiona Boyes for introducing me to the term “respectful agnostic” which so accurately describes my own “religious” leaning.

This site contains a mixture of my scribblings, podcasts and radio shows.

I suggest you use the “Blog“, “Podcast“, “Quotations” or “Radio” menu items if you want to segment what is displayed. Under “Blog” you can also just choose one of the categories to further limit what is displayed. Look for the “Older Posts” at the bottom of the page to show the next page of posts.

Purpose

I’ve always considered myself open to new ideas and in later life, I came to discover Lao Zu. In about the 6th century BC he is purported, as legend has it, to have written a small book called Tao Te Ching, where he created a treasure trove of words to guide us, among them:

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom.

This then is what this blog is about – me coming to know myself better through expression.

Title

The title of this blog is also a small part of that. I am finally stepping into accepting for myself the nickname of “Stace”. A lot of people have called me that over the years but until recently I never acknowledged it for myself. I never referred to myself as “Stace” as it was a name reserved in my mind for my father who was known universally as that. He even warned my grandmother when we visited him in New Zealand never to call him by his first name, Reg, as people wouldn’t know who she was referring to.  The name “Stace’s Place” was also the name of the corner store he set up in the brief second reunion with my mother in Napier NZ back in the 50’s. So nothing original here but the content.

Enjoy

I hope it will also become a place for people to read, listen, imagine, and be inspired.  I would love to hear from you and if you would like to contact me see my contact page here.   Or use any of the social media icons in the banner at the top of the page.

Welcome to my place, make yourself comfortable…

  1. It was so good to see you again, Mike. I’ve had a hard time keeping up as well. Finally pushed all my blogs into the Reader because the sight of my inbox overwhelmed me. I do so love that idea of a Respectful Agnostic. I refer to myself as a bipolar believer. 😀

  2. Gee, I hate to hog the space here. (wink) Just stopped by to say hello since it’s been awhile. The date on that first post was in 2015! You’ve redecorated since last I was here. Nice and modern. Btw, I LOVE,LOVE,LOVE that quote! There is so much freedom in just understanding that! Stay cool! Catch you later dude…
