About

about140903My name is Mike Stacey and I created this blog to put my “voice” on the internet. So here’s a little about who I am, and what I love…

Blues fan. AFL fan. Radio Fan. Theatre Fan. IT dabbler. Fledgling writer. Animal lover. Healer. Husband, father, grandfather. Respectful agnostic.

Purpose

I’ve always considered myself open to new ideas and in later life I came to discover Lao Zu. In about the 6th century BC he is purported, as legend has it, to have written a small book called Tao Te Ching, where he created a treasure trove of words to guide us, among them:

Knowing others is intelligence; knowing yourself is true wisdom.

This then is what this blog is about – me coming to know myself better through expression.

Title

The title of this blog is also a small part of that. I am finally stepping in to accepting for myself the nickname of “Stace”. A lot of people have called me that over the years but until recently I never acknowledged it for myself. I never referred to myself as “Stace” as it was a name reserved in my mind for my father who was known universally as that. He even warned my grandmother when we visited never to call him by his first name, Reg, as people wouldn’t know who she was referring to.  The name “Stace’s Place” was also the name of the corner store he setup in the brief second reunion with my mother back in the 50’s. So nothing original here but the content.

Enjoy

I hope it will also become a place for people to read, imagine, and be inspired. Welcome to my place, make yourself comfortable…
